Gammel v2.0 is out now! The headline feature is a major widget upgrade for both Dashboard and Photo widgets. They have been redesigned from the ground up to support multiple new styles with some of the new styles supporting custom colour themes. The Photo widget also includes the colour-matched Image Theme that matches a colour to your photo automatically.

Photos are smarter too with Gammel detecting faces and subjects so images are framed more naturally inside widgets, and it can extract colours from your photos to help styles feel more tailored. The result is a widget that looks more polished without needing extra setup.

To make all of that easier to explore there is a new Widget Playground, an in-app space where you can preview combinations with your own data before placing anything on your Home Screen. It is a faster way to compare styles, try different themes, and find a setup that works best.

Beyond widgets, the update also refreshes the Settings experience, adds clearer in-app guidance, and smooths out everyday interactions across the app. It is a broad quality pass, but widgets are the centrepiece, now more customisable and better at showing the people, pets, and anniversaries you care about.

And for the nerdier retro lovers out there, v2.0 also introduces Terminal as a new style for both Photo and Dashboard widgets, with a CRT-inspired look that gives your Home Screen a more old-school feel.
